SOMG uses an ancient Japanese technique of wood preservation called Yakisugi, which involves burning the timber to create the deep black charred colour, which has a beautiful depth and shine.
Part of his Tapatoru series, this work showcases charred triangles all created from salvaged Native and Exotic timbers, contrasted against the stunning grain of the Native Rimu panel.
This is a simply stunning piece that would be a beautiful addition to any interior. SOMg's work is innovative, sleek and contemporary.

These innovative & original art works are designed and made in NZ by SOMg. They can also be reproduced to order, understanding that they would have slight variants in tones and timbers due to the hand made nature of the work and the salvaged timber available.
